Potholes, sewage and traffic hostility: can Kampala ever be a bike-friendly city?

Initiate a conversation about cycling in Kampala and it will probably go one of two ways. People either assume you’re talking about boda bodas, the motorbike taxis that snake dangerously through the city’s arteries.
