Expensive and heavy. I live in Montréal on the top storey of a triplex. If I left one just locked below, it would be stolen, and there is no way I could carry it up to my flat.

And many, many urban people live in similar places.

Eventually they may come down in price and be light enough for a somewhat elderly person who needs them to carry them upstairs, but that is still a long way off.
