Thanks for the attention Active Transportation Canada! We actually have a (partially) Canadian citizen amongst us - the author of the proposal and father of 5 children. The fight is really heating up this week with TV and radio interviews and we've managed to arrange to meet the hwy authority's president. Oeiras Municipality flunked the proposal basing itself on formalities (the highway isn't their jurisdiction, ... but the territory is and so are the trash bins placed on the highway sidewalks) and has refused to receive or meet us, despite over 5,000 supporters and a lively debate going on around here.
We haven't thrown in the towel, but all the attention we can get is great.
Keep up the good work.
All the best from sunny Portugal,
Ciclovia na Marginal
