EDITORIAL: Reconsider higher pedestrian fines

The provincial Liberal government should rethink its move to hike fines for pedestrians to nearly $700 for even relatively minor infractions of the Motor Vehicle Act. Bill 133, which along with the increased fines included a number of other uncontroversial amendments of the Motor Vehicle Act, passed final reading in the legislature last week and now needs only to be proclaimed to become law.
