In this Globe and Mail investment video, The Globe's John Heinzl explains how the cost of car ownership can add up quickly when you factor in things like gas, maintenance and finance. See.
I ditched my car in 2005. Not for the first time. A simple chart I made, showed me how much money I was wasting on ownership. I can still rent a car - it's not that expensive - when I want to go and visit places far away. I can use an occasional taxi if need be, but most of all, I just walk more often and take the bus. For my local commutes, I save bundles. Besides, who want to stress out with the rest of the rat race everyday! Is there even one courteous driver left? Adding up your own tally is easy - give it a try and you'll see the thousands and thousands of dollars saved each year. Another bonus? You will be healthier too. ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION! GO ON GREEN!
